I am a die hard Trinity Blood fan. That is no lie! But mainly I love Astha. She is the ultimate female character, my Holy Grail cosplay, and doing her justice is my ultimate goal.
I started this cosplay 3 years ago at least, it looked like crap back then, so no photos of that! It did win me an award at FYE but still, it was God awful.
I tried making it again last year and didn't have much luck-I used satin of all things, got the hat done, part of the staff, the sleeves, and boots, and a couple other things, but ended up getting sick when trying to finish the vinyl armor, coat, and styling the wig.
This year, 2012 I started over from scratch! I bought so many new cosplay making materials, such as Wonderflex, and learned so much via tutorials and my own trial and error processes.
I debuted Astha at Colossalcon in June. Armor failed, sash got torn off by overexuberant fan girl, and my contacts weren't the right color, but I was happy with it at that time. I love people's reactions more than getting awards in contests any day!
Second time I wore it I fixed the sash, added more details all around, and actually had the armor done and the right contacts. I won Novice Division Champion at Midoricon in September. My happiness was complete! My efforts had been recognized and respected!
Took this costume with me to Youmacon and ended up getting featured on a couple sites. People still recognize Trinity Blood (mainly for the ridiculous hats) it seems.
Slowly but surely Astharoshe is gaining popularity. I one day hope to be truly known for this costume above all the others I have or am in the process of making. But we shall see!
Hoping to bring her to Katsucon 2013 and then again to Colossalcon 2013 in full glory...time to get back to work! A true cosplay is never complete, it is always evolving, always in need of touch ups and repairs!
